Helped out the Chair of the Hither Green Community Association on Sunday morning.
Good news: The hundreds of daffodils planted by the St Swithun's Scouts last autumn are flowering all around Hither Green. They did a great job.
The planters at Hither Green station are filled with bright and cheery daffodils.
I hope the scouts are justly proud!
Bad news: The Hither Green Lane plant thief is back at work- the final lavender bit the dust last week.
There have been plant thefts and petty vandalism of the station planters in Forest Hill, but is anyone aware of anywhere that has suffered from more sustained plant larceny than Hither Green Lane? From the original planting last April, there are only hebes left.
Undaunted- the Hither Green Community Association keep keeping on!
And we're all thankful for their persistence!
*The next community gardening session- Saturday 22 March meet at platform 1 entrance to the station.
