They make 'em hardy in South London! Despite a forecast of solid rain all day, intrepid locals came out to plant saplings on in the rain!
These were wild harvest saplings from The Woodland Trust. We have been working hard to encourage biodiversity on our train station embankment, these new bushes will be carefully managed providing habitats and food for wildlife and a foraging legacy for the area.
With so many people, the planting took just 90 minutes; soaked through and filthy we decamped to a local cafe for tea and sausage sandwiches.
A huge thank you to all the local residents who braved the rain to improve their community.
Thank you also to The Woodland Trust. Do follow the link if you would like your school or community group to plant bushes or trees.
