Forest Hill: New chicken project looking for volunteers.

Posted by Lewisham Gardens on January 24, 2014 at 12:05 PM

Venue: Miriam Lodge, 185 Dartmouth Road SE26 4RN (Next to Forest Hill Police Station.)

Word has been spreading about the St Mungo's chicken & veg growing project and we've been invited to replicate it at Miriam Lodge Hotel in Forest Hill.

The residents have absolutely engaged with the chickens and have now been caring for them to the highest standards for seven months. everyone, especially the residents themselves are proud and delighted.

Miriam Lodge in Forest Hill wants to do the same, so they are inviting Forest Hill locals to come along and help with growing veg and with the chicken keeping. In fact if you've been absently considering having a few hens at home, this new project could be perfect way to get a little experience. The birds should be on site within the next few weeks.

More info: It's a 125 bed hostel- twice the number of residents as St Mungos, but it is a 'dry' hostel with zero tolerance for onsite drinking, so the residents are much further along in their recovery- basically a lot less lively than St Mungos!

If you're interested you can email us as usual or Miriam Lodge directly: [email protected]

Come on Forest Hill!
