The Big Dig is here - Saturday 22 March 2014
Need more volunteers for your site? Having trouble engaging with your local community?
The Big Dig is a volunteer drive designed to get your growing project ready for the season, and help you get local people down to your garden to get their hands dirty, learn something new and hopefully decide to continue to help throughout the growing season. It is also a great way to get some of your old volunteers back on site!
How does the Big Dig help your growing space get volunteers?
The Big Dig is in its third year in London and also now runs across the country. Lots of groups have found it a useful way to start the season and promote their project. We will also be getting press coverage including national coverage in the Guardian magazine and will be using social media to get as many people along as we can . Food Growing projects that register for the day will:
• Be added to Big Dig online map so that new volunteers can find your space by entering their postcode and registering to volunteer.
• Receive postcards and posters to help you promote the day locally.
• Get an info pack on how to run a successful Big Dig day including five packets of seeds
Plus we have 10 x £20 vouchers to give away plus other mystery prizes for the first 20 sign ups and its absolutely free to take part.
